Joy Organic is a cause-driven, woman-owned business. We manufacture Certified Organic Cotton apparel and bedding in a Certified Fair Trade Factory. All of our fabrics are certified by GOTS and Skal for organic integrity. Our products are available in many fine retail establishments throughout the US. Please feel free to contact us with any wholesale inquiries.

We decided to start this business to fulfill the growing need for environmentally sustainable goods in the U.S. Our initial reasons for getting involved in organic cotton were very entrepreneurial. However, the unexpected gifts and knowledge that have come to us during this enlightening journey have been numerous. Our knowledge and passion for our work continues to grow every day. Coming from two unrelated industries, there was a huge learning curve to overcome.

We balance our cause-related efforts between the United States and India. In the U.S., we have become deeply involved in the manufacturing and distribution of organic cotton shopping bags as an alternative to plastic bags. In India, we are involved with the Chetna Project and Solidaridad Foundation. These two groups are involved in the training and support of organic farmers.

The Joy Organic apparel line is comprised of approximately one dozen styles of basic cotton pieces that appeal to all ages. Each piece is extremely versatile; the women’s line can be worn to the yoga studio, the office or out on the town.

The Joy Baby line is available in six eco-friendly colors. The response by moms to our baby bedding has been amazing. We continually hear that our baby blankets and sheets are their favorite items. The quality of our cotton is unsurpassed and the retail pricing is the most competitive in the marketplace. Organic Cotton is naturally hypo-allergenic. With allergies, baby eczema and many skin conditions on the rise, especially among babies…moms are choosing Organic Cotton as the best alternative to keep their children’s skin away from harsh irritants.

Why Use Organic Cotton?

  • Three percent of the world’s farmable land produced more than 50 billion pounds of cotton in 2007.
  • Twenty five percent of all insecticides that are manufactured are applied to the cotton crop.
  • Cotton is the most heavily sprayed field crop on the planet.
  • One third of a pound of toxic chemicals are used to produce one pound of cotton fiber.
  • By purchasing organic cotton you save our land and water from being polluted by thousands of pounds of toxic chemicals.

Why Is Fair-Trade Important?

  • Child labor is non-existent in Fair-Trade practices.
  • The farmers become partners in their own growing business and all workers are paid and a fair wage for their work.
  • Men and women are paid equally.
  • Fair-Trade organizations give back by supporting community projects related to health, education and economic development.
  • Fair-Trade cotton sells for about 70% more than conventional cotton.
  • Fair-Trade Cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides.
